Default Getting long tube headers, what do I need?

I'm finally getting a set of long tube headers. I do not plan on buying a midpipe, however. Here's what I'm thinking I will need to do. Remove the exhaust system completely, install the LT headers which should have a flange to bolt the piping to. Can I just cut the flanges off the old Y pipe and weld them on to the piping they are going to use, or would it just be easier to cut the flange off the headers and weld it on. I plan on keeping the car now, so if I weld it, it won't be a problem because I'm not going to remove them unless they break. I already have a tuner, so Justin can turn off the CEL. Am I missing anything here or is it simply just some cutting and welding? That's what they do in this article...

DON'T WELD THE CAT PIPE TO THE HEADERS!!!!! You usually have to take all tha stuff out when you drop the tranny, and it'll be impossible to remove them if thecan't freely rotate. You can modify your stock y-pipe and I believe you can use the stock flanges and ends. The MAC h-pipe is cheap though, and it bolts right up to a GT catback.

I didn't think of that, haha. Guess I'll be modifying my stock Y pipe. I want to keep my divorced set up, I think it will sound GREAT with long tubes, and I don't know anyone that has LT's, divorced duals with Thrush mufflers

What? If I have the H pipe then I won't have divorced duals any more, haha. The goal is to stay as close as I can to my current setup, only changing out the manifolds and getting rid of the cats (will get high flows eventually)

If you have the ability to modify your current set-up to accept LT's than go for it. Divorced duals do not sound good with LT's. It sounds like a tractor.

I think that sound is going to have more to do with mufflers than the cross over, it doesn't make that HUGE of a difference. H and divorced sound very similar, I just don't want to pay another hundred and some odd dollars for the H pipe.
