the 3.8 block? not at all weak. the stock parts such as cam, intake manifold, heads... on a 95 3.8L? very weak indeed. with the split port intake manifold and bigger cam, the 99+ v6s have about 55 or so more hp at the flywheel than your yr. if you have the money, buy a gt. modding a v6 is what i chose to do b/c of my limited budget and the fact that i am 16.
50 hp? i really fine that hard to believe, a buddy of mine has a 99 vert v6 and my mom has a 96 v6 and the 96 actually seems a little faster.
those are flywheel hp numbers from ford. 145 (96) 150 (98) and 190 (99-00) 193 (01-04). so 45 more, not 50 (im such a dumbass). and the reason it feels or may be slower is the vert vs. coupe deal. the vert is much heavier and a general rule of thumb is 1 thenth in the 1/4 for every 100 lbs.

My buddy has a Stealth with a 3.0 V6 putting out almost 500 hp's.
For our V6's it's all in the top end. We can get around 80 hp's just from rebuilding our top end, then add forced air and our V6's are insane.
Yea my neighbor has a Dodge Stealth, and that thing is fast. Much faster than mine with a smaller engine. But what do you mean rebuild the top end? Headwork, as in the top of the engine?

Exactly, heads, big valves, intakes, cam, rolling rockers. That's where the power is hidden in the 3.8 engine. Then if you add forced air, it becomes a race car. You can safely run around 10 lbs of boost on stock internals and a stock 7.5" rear end.

b/c you are running a 3speed not 4th gear which will lower top speed by staying in a lower rpm with that ratio.
