3.8 engine weak?
you can get a GT fairly cheap these days. buy a 99+ GT and don't waste the money modding your 6er. if you end up with a lot power on your v6 motor, you will need to change other things in your drivetrain to keep up.

yeah the 4.6's are awsome especially the 99+'s. get real. the 99+'s stock are 14.5 cars some dipping into the high 13's with an experienced driver and slicks with just 4.10's, but the 3.8 has alot of potential on par with the buick V6 because it was based off of the buick.
the 4.6 and 5.0 need heavy and won't get the same HP/dollar as the 3.8.
there are 4.6 99+ guys with vortech's only dynoing 310rwhp while a procharged splitport dynos only about 20-30 hp less.
the 3.8 block is really a beast being a blend of buick V6 and Cleveland ford designs. both of which are very respected engines. the only reason the 3.8 doesn't have a huge following is ford didn't turbo it in the 80's to compete with the buick because it would have overshadowed the 5.0 and made it obsolete. ford always played on V8 power. they were the forst to have a succesfull V8 and never wanted to lose that image.
there were prototypes of the supercoupe 3.8 in Fox bodies that far out performed the 5.0 but ford marketers knew america was bread on V8's even though they may be inferior you could never sway a V8 owner otherwise.
the same is true today

Because when I got the car I was 16, there was no way I could afford a V8, or afford insurance. I'm 19 now and have a steady flow of cash, with this post I was wondering if I should mod this engine, or buy a new car. I think I am going to keep this one and mod it.
I'm saying my 1995 3.8 is wimpy, I know the newer years got better in horsepower. babygurl, I invite you to come and drive my car, it can't even chirp off the line, that is how weak it is. This will hopefully change soon though.
Thanks for everybody's input.
dude not to burst your bubble here but I dont think the 3.8 is "wimpy" or "weak" whatsoever..
I have an oversized cam in my 3.8 and I have to tell you that I beat a stock GT stang with mine.
so my question to you is why do you feel this way about the 3.8?
furthermore its a lighter car and better on gas and insurance. so dawg the sixer why didn't you get a V8 holmes???? lol

maybe your car is so slow because something is wrong with it,like engine not getting enough fuel or something with the fuel filter, did you check any of that?

maybe its not hitting on all 6 cylinders?
