2003 automatic will not shift from park
I have a 2003 mustang v6 automatic. I can't get it out of park and brake lights do come on so it is not the switch. This happened before about 3 months ago. Had it towed to mechanic who said cables just needed to be cleaned which he did and it has worked fine until today. I drove it home, parked in drive way and now it is stuck again. Any solutions?
Welcome to the forums.
Sounds like you have a brake light fuse out, could be the 3rd brake light seeing that you have brakes.
The way to bypass this is.
1.) Foot on Brake.
2.) Place hand on shifter and push button in and hold in.
3.) Slowly turn ignition to "ON" but do NOT start.
4.) As you are slowly turning to the "ON" possition be sure to pull back on the shifter lever.
5.) Put in Neutral and Start. Will not start in anything else but Neutral.
You may have to do this a couple times to get it right, but that is the bypass to get it out of lock.
Good luck.
