You could find a shop to fab you up a true dual exhaust for under $500 with your choice of mufflers and tips. That was my first mod I did, and I still love it to this day. Besides the obvious improvement in the sound of the car, it really opened it up. The car picked up much faster and rode so much smoother, especially in the lower gears.

After that, and this is for me, I will never own another car without having a custom exhaust.

Just something for you to think about.

Well, if I can find a shop to do it for under $500, I would definitely consider it. I ll ask around where I live (San Rafael) and see what would be the damage

Drop in K&N with silencer removed (or modified for stock appearance, I just cut most of the horn off with big scissors), will sound better and maybe get 1 or 2 rwhp. You will notice it takes less pedal and runs smoother more than anything. You aren't looking at a real big gain, but for 50 bucks(brand new price, mine came with the cleaner as a bonus),and 10 mins of your time, well worth it. Some pulleys would free up a few HP(tougher to install than a drop in filter), guessing 3ish, nothing major, but again, will run smoother and less effort to move the car. All that and a ghettofied Y pipe dual exhaust(most of the piping already there), if you can install yourself and get some mufflers (have a shop weld them and dump at the axles, over will cost u more, but worth it IMO) on the cheap(buddy with a welder is ideal) , definitely doable with 500 bones. There's nothing wrong with finding great used parts either. GL

Round here they would weld in exhaust with thrush mufflers but without tips for 180-200. Oh and I have bbk intake. And hate it. Besides modding stock intake you will just pay for "looks" with a cai. Could be off my rocker everybody but would welded full length sub frame connectors be worth it being convertible, doors drop as miles accumulate and help keep away some rattles here and there with interior pieces

I have FL sub frames from MM and they do stiffin up the ride a bit; just something to think about is you will loose ride quality with them in. Also, you should be able to do your exhaust for under $250. I paid like $55 for Summit Force Pro's, $20 for over axle GT take offs, and $90 for the tubing fab up. Just seach around for GT take off's and a cheap mom and pop shop.

The funny thing about cheap "mom and pop" shops, most get the job better than the big chains

Agreed! ^^^^ sometimes you'll get a.... Not so well done job but they tend to correct it because everything can be on the line for their reputation

Dont put a dual exhaust on a V6. I can't stand it when people do that. It just sounds like a coke can on the back of your car.

What I would personally do is put on a CAI as others have said. Honestly, a CAI is a CAI. The only difference among them is the name. They all do the same thing. Some of them may be a little bit better, but it is so little that it really isn't worth it.

Also, I'd get a 4" flowmaster for your exhaust. Or a 3". Then, I'd get some performance Cats (my friend has the 3" and American muscle cats. It sounds MEAN). Of course, that is going to be more than $500 if you include the cats, but you can save that for later :P
