Default 4.2 swap question

Ok I was wondering what all I need to swap a 4.2 into my 2002 mustang?

I have a chance to get either a short block, long block, or a long block w/all accessories. What do you guys think I should get?

It really is simple, if you get a correctly balanced engine/flywheel/ harmonic balancer.

Then pull the oil pan off, switch out the oil pick up tube. Install the mustang oil pan.
Put your mustang engine mounts on. Heads are the same to my knowledge, atleast they were the same from my 2004 stang heads and 07 4.2 heads. So you can leave them on, but if your down there you might as well replace the head gaskets also.

Cam is your choice. Lots of might as well **** here though ... port heads/intakes
custom cam, etc etc. But those costs can get stupid quick so be sure to know what you want first.

But anyways, their ya go. Thats the hardest part. After that, timing cover, intakes, all the other ****. Turn key.

Thanks mustangmike09. Our local pick n pull has shortblocks for $100. My friend said he saw a few 4.2s. Ima go pick up one with the lowest miles that looks decent, a 8.8, windstar upper and try to find a aluminum driveshaft.

Pics to come when break down and install start.
