It would definitely work, but how would I go about doing that part specifically? Taking apart the steering column, putting in the key, taking out the key cylinder with the car on, turning off the car with a screwdriver, ziptying everything in, and then cutting the red wire and putting in a switch?

And then I would simply do four relays, two sets, so that I could have a switch for accessories, a switch for ignition, and then set up a momentary button wired to power, ground, and spliced into the ignition wire? (white and pink).
I still don't fully understand asiansensation's instructions.... Maybe my neighbor can make sense of them..

Okay, I'm definitely looking into starting this weekend, but, the only concern holding me back on this project is the security. I like asiansensation's relay set up that he demonstrates in the video, but have no clue how to do it. I also like the security explanation later in the post and the one I referred to above about cutting the red wire and inserting a hidden switch, but is that security enough? I could implement a reed switch, but, really, is that enough peace of mind to just carry a magnet everywhere and plop it onto a hidden switch? I am pretty sure I am understanding how to wire in two sets of relays for the accessories and ignition switches, now that I've spent a little more time researching, but the security still baffles me

i would just install a hidden kill switch. old school hot rodders have done it that way for years.
honestly if someone wants to steal your car they will do it.
the people who steal cars, i would imagine, have enough exp to do it...stock, alarmed or with this system in it.

with mine being a 95 v6, i am guessing theft will be the least of my concerns.

Fair enough. I think I'll just go with a hidden reed switch. I'll put it within arms reach though. I couldn't do that with a regular switch, I would be too paranoid that someone I know would just hop in. But no one will understand the reed switch ahah. But you're right, if someone wants my car enough to steal it, they'll probably know what they're doing. If they want to steal a car, they will.

Okay, figured I should update. Looking to order the buttons, switches and extra wires. Talked this out with someone who's extremely experienced with cars, and it doesn't look like it'll be too difficult! Anyone have any suggestions?

when i do this i would like to use the buttons in the one thread you posted with the vid.
the start button in the vid looked a little to big. i would think if you wanted a factory look then you could try to be subtle in the button selection.

other then that, the method is gonna be all you. i would sit in the car though and fig out the most natural button location and layout for you. just my thoughts.

and please oh please....write up!!
i would love to follow this and do my own...i am currently on the verge of wrapping up my swap and rebuild, or i would tackle this too.

thank you
