Lightbulb Looking for Shocks/Struts

Im looking to buy a new set of shocks and struts on my 2000 v6 convertable. i still have the original set and 123,000 miles (i know its bad). Im looking for struts/shocks that will increase my handling but for around $400 total. I dont care if they are stiff or different brands, i just want my car to handle really well. Can anyone tell me their response about the shocks/struts they have purchased?? This is the last bit of money i can spend on the car, and I dont want to be disapointed. Thanks a lot

Well the shocks/struts have little to do with the handling of the car other than applying a counter force to the springs. The springs are more so where it's at, you want to lower the car, get new struts/shocks to support the lower ride, and adjustable caster cambers to get the wheels set right.

If you want the best out of the car then go out and convert to a coil over suspension. These are around $1200 but will completely revamp the suspension, not to mention everything will be changed making the suspension like new and ready for another 120K.

Not the most knowedgeable on V6s, and while I do agree that coilovers are the best thing to do, I realize that there is also a buget in mind that you have. For the price range you want to stay at I would recommend the Koni STR streets. They're good for the price, good all around OEM replacement. Not going to be the best out there but for a budget not bad and matched with a good spring they can be had for under 600 new..

Kyb gr2's are pretty cheap and add a little bit of performance. Also check out kyb agx's as well as tokiko blues

Good shocks and struts are absolutely critical when you want your "car to handle really well." Keep in mind that high end shocks & struts cost far more than your $400 budget. However, I have used Strange Engineering 10-way shocks & struts on my daily driver '04 Mustang, and they worked really well considering their low cost.

These fit your budget and they will improve your handling:

KYB is cheaper and a great product. Best out there would be Bilstein, Koni, Tokio.
