2003 114k miles.

Car drove fine I parked came back 6 hours later car started then died after maybe 2 seconds wouldn't restart. i checked fuel pump in trunk its on. Tow truck driver said there is no spark. I'm not the best with mechanics. I have owned this car since new and all i ever did to it was a cooling fan and replaced the coil pack (7000 miles ago) plugs and wires have about 40-45k on them. Seems like the car just won't turn over. Silly me i figured it needed a jump. I work on my 89 vette so i hope this car is as easy or easier to diagnose and fix!

Any insight on where to start would be great.

When you turn the key what happens? If it won't turn over that would lead me t suspect dead battery, if you turn the key does anything turn? Like starter?

 

I can hear the starter i don't want to attempt to many starts and burn out the starter. I tested the volts 12.1 with car off and 11 with car in aux mode. I had tow truck try to jump it with one of those battery packs still wouldn't start. I guess its possible volts are good but not enough cranking amps. I will try and jump it with another car i have a Corolla available.

Its just odd car did start then died after 2 seconds then wouldn't crank

 

After a closer look battery cable was frayed looks like something chewed it. I replaced it and car starts fine. Now I gotta figure out how to align my hood since it doesn't line up with the latch!

 

yeah, its always good when its not a big headache.
