yall all have good points. In the very beginning I wanted a v8. Iknow I am going to sound crazy for saying this and people are going to think bad. For me I like having all that power under my foot. I do not race and do not want to. I know that a V8 is a very powerful car and needs to be driven with care. I also know that it will be trickier to drive in the rain (with it sliding). But rite now with my huge truck it slides so much in the rain its not even funny.

I am not one of those kids that are going to show off in the school parking lot. I know how dangerous driving is. For me the V8 fits me better , after all that was my first pick. about the insurance thing yeah I agree I have to be a driver under my moms name.

-thanks every one! I still would love to hear some imput!!

Best thing to do is search online for some free quotes from like progressive and geico and whatever.
BabyGT is correct. It may help also to shop around for insurance. If your Mom has a good record, and has had the same company for years, she may get a discount shopping around. Then she can tell her current insurance company she found a lower rate after adding you on somewhere else. The company may lower her premium, but of course it would still be more with you added on regardless. It worked for us. We pay 1,100.00 a year for FULL coverage with Progressive, on both the '03GT and '04Mach1. So be patient, and keep a good record, and the premiums will drop. And don't forget! Your driving record will affect your mothers premiums directly, so be careful. I know you know that, but I had to say it anyway. Sure hope you enjoy the 'Stang.

Agreed with BabyGT. Also, it varies by state. Here in NJ, since I'm a mile away from NYC, my insurance was through the roof. . . but at 32 years old, I still pay about 1800 per year for liability alone. I lived in southern NJ from 2003 to 2010, and my insurance was about 500 less. Location makes a big difference.

Call one of the big ones in your area, and get NUMEROUS QUOTES before deciding. Thats the best thing I can tell you for insurance advice.

Absolutely. You can call and just tell them that you want a quote. Typically all they will need is your driver license number, and the VIN of your car. You can usually get a quote within 15 minutes.

EDIT: In your case, they'll need your moms drivers license number AND yours, since it'll be insured under her, but you'll be a registered driver.

Okay ! Now here is a thought & I'm just going to throw it out here . I am in no means trying to think of insurance fraud. But what if the car was only under my moms name? Meaning that I wasn't even considered a driver on that car. So I could drive the car around and if I were to get pulled over , I could just say I am running to the store of something for my mom in her car ?? Once again not trying to do anything illegal. Was just a thought

Well, that is illegal. So if your not trying to do something illegal, that's not it.
