Default Two Transmission Questions

Alrightly, so, I have two questions that are bothering me, but let me first explain the situation.

When i'm travailing at about 35-40MPH and my engine is at around 1,200 - 1,700 RPM, my entire car starts to shutter. I just did a transmission service on it yesterday. I dropped the pan, drained the fluid, witch was black/brown, and the filter was laying in the pan, not attached. But, now replaced and with new fluid. I also took the pumpkin off, placed a new gasket, and put new gear oil in.

Now my first question is, I found this in the pan when I dropped it:

Any idea what it is and were it goes? I can't figure for the life of me were it went.

Second, I have a feeling that the shuttering could be the torque converter going, and I figure, if i'm going to get a new one, get a high performance one. So what would you guys recommend? Thanks.

It belongs in the trash/recycle bin. It is the plug installed at the factory in the tranny fill tube whole inside the tranny oil pan. After the tranny is put together they install the tranny dipstick which pops that little thing out and into the pan. Don’t worry about it.

As for the torque converter, no point in a performance converter if you don’t have a performance motor. If your converter is truly hosed, replace it with a stocker. But don’t condemn the converter unless you are absolutely sure it is the problem. They aren’t cheap, nor is removing the tranny to fix it again if the problem isn’t fixed by the new converter. Take it to a tranny shop and have them take a look.

Good luck...
