Default Question about headlight switch replacement...

I will be replacing the headswitch on my '96 Mustang. A couple of questions. At American Muscle they have both the "OEM Quality switch" for $19.99 and the Ford Motorcraft for $35.99. Is there any reason to spend the extra $16 for the Motorcraft switch? BTW, the local Ford dealership wants $60 for the Motorcraft part.

Also, would you replace the Headlight Switch Wiring Harness regardless of its appearence since you already have the instrument cluster opened as a preventive measure?

Thanks again,
Cobbson

Cobbson-Good question and the $19.99 Headlight Switch is absolutely more than enough to get the job done! If you're going to be replacing the switch I think it's definitely a great idea to swap the Wiring Harness as well. Let me know if you have any questions and I hope this helps!

I'd go with the cheap switch. For that matter, two $1.50 toggle switches will do the job (one for headlights and one for parking lights), and some police departments put in a block of toggles (DRK, BRK, HDLT, MKR, PRST, SIREN*) and bypass the factory switch, so that a cop could go from DARK CAR to all lights and siren in a flick of the switches.

* The switches were:

DARK CAR (disable lights and audible warning systems)
Brake light cutoff
Headlights
Marker lights
Pursuit lights
Siren
