Default Mustang... dead.. no electrical.

2000 V6.

Right now, it's as if my mustang has no electrical power.

The battery is fully charged. Last weekend, I had the alternator tested, it was bad. So I replaced it, and while I was at it, replaced the starter motor/solenoid.

I didn't try starting it then.. it had a been a long day.

Today, I connected the battery (fully charged) and the engine turned, but didn't fire.

somehow the fuel pump relay had tripped. So I pressed the button.

I went to start again, the car dinged (because I had the door open). I went to start, and everything went totally dark. Now, it's like there is no power at all.

The battery is still good.

I have no idea what to do at this point.

When I bought the car, it started and ran.

Any ideas.. I don't want randomly replace electrical parts.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, the 2000 3.8 is a great car, finding the prob should be pretty easy.
Do you have a test light or a meter? If no-Could be as simple as a poor connection to your battery, I'd start by cleaning the battery posts and the connectors to it with a battery post cleaner.
I'd also go back to each wire I took off-make sure they are on the right location. clean and tight.
If you have a test light or a meter let us know.

Somehow... someway.. it's working again.

I honestly don't know what happened.

I pulled disconnected the battery, and then removed all the fuses and relays in the under-hood fuse block. (This was Saturday the 16th)

I reconnected the battery. Then measured voltage on the all the leads to see if 12v was coming into the fuse block. Then, one-by-one, I examined each fuse and re-inserted it, testing for power on both sides of the fuse.

With the door open, and inserting the key, I didn't get any dinging.. but I twisted the key anyway. The car turned over, and after several seconds, started. I shut-off and restarted the engine several times..

And now. with door open, and key in ignition.. door dinging... wierd.

But I'll take it.

I've test started the next day, (Sunday, and Tuesday) and it starts. It takes about 7 seconds of cranking for it to start, but like that's a different problem.

Strange that it started to work again without you changing anything. I see that you are in Wisconsin. The battery could have some damage from being left in cold weather without frequency driving. Is it your daily driver?

Brand new battery a few weeks ago.. I've had the car for only a month or two.
