Performance mods vs engine swap
Hello, I am looking into getting some more power out of my car. I have a 2000 V6 Mustang and I want to know what is the potential to the engine I have, and what kind of options would be good other than it. I've thought about engine swapping but I'm not sure what to swap to. I would like to have a somewhat smaller engine to keep weight down, but at the same time I'd like much more horsepower. I have considered putting in the GT engine of that year, and I've considered the Cobra engine from that year, and I've also considered getting the coyote engine from the modern mustang, but I'm not sure. I don't intend to keep it as just the naturally aspirated engine either, I want to push as much horsepower as possible while sacrificing other aspects of the car as little as possible. The engine in it now is over 200,000 miles so it will need replacing soon, so I'd like to know which engine I will be putting in it. Thank you for any help you can give, sorry if I said or say something rather stupid, only been into cars about the past year, and trying to learn as much as I can.
If you can afford a Coyote engine just buy a new GT instead hehe. Coyote crates run $7k - $15k depending on build. Terminator supercharger rebuild kits run $6k sans engine. The only way you'll get any HP out of a old V6 is to rebuild her internals and go turbo charging. Older V8s aren't much better but a pro charger can help on them.
