Post Unknown device on a vacuum line

1998 V6 3.8L Convertible: A vacuum line off of the rear intake manifold (passenger side-ish) (pic 1) leads to a device that hangs out near the A/C Condenser (passenger side firewall) (pic 2) - it has an electrical connection on it -and- a place for another vacuum line.
1. What is this device ?
2. I don't see where the missing vacuum line would go ? Can I cap off -or-.....?

PIC 1 - rear passenger side intake manifold - single vacuum line, 90 degrees right to unknown device.

PIC 2 - Unknown device - passenger side firewall near A/C Condenser - missing vacuum line - goes where ?

Default

That's your vapour canister purge, it should connect into your intake manifold
