Should ford have used the 4.0L from the trucks in the SN95's?

There were two 4.0L motors that Ford used. OHV and SOHC. The OHV sucked.
I like the 3.8 because there was a vast ocean of parts for it thanks to the302 and 351 motors. Aftermarket for the 4.0L SOHC still sucks.

but if you think about it. if they used the 4.0L back then, then there would be a greater aftermarket for it.

he means the 3.8 aftermarket is as big as it is, not because it was in the mustang, but because of the engine's design compared to the 302 and the 351 since the 3.8 is a 6cyl engine derived from the pushrod 302/351. the 4.0 is an OHC engine. totally different.

The reson Ford didn't use it was because:

1.) The 3.8 was much more readily availible ....... saves cost on the consumer
2.) For the 4.0 to even work in the new mustan, modifications had to be made to give a little extra clearance with the oil pan.
3.) Do you actually think it would of had that much power years ago? The 5.0 could of been made with 300+ stock, but only had 225.
