yeah scrming, thats the one thing he didnt copy from my earlier posts. LOL yeah i donk know how they can tell but when i talked to the guys they said they could. No idae how but i believe them. yeah it could log it somewhere or something, i dont think it has anything to do with rebooting. Apparently your service guy is pretty cool!

wait, its descent? 350 hp and descent, i hate to think what you think about your cars acceleration!!! LOL
oh... well that explains it! Of course they are going to tell you they can tell! LOL! These are the guys who'll try to tell you your aftermarket muffler is causing the popping noise in your front struts! LOL!

I've got a couple of engineer buddies at Ford... I'll bug them next week to see if I can get a definitive answer! LOL!

So when if I where to disconnect the car from the battery before i take it back to the dealership, the ECU will be reflashed? and will their be any traces of the ecu being reprogramed or reflashed with a aftermarket system lets say lidio for example? My warranty won't be voided will it?

another question; Are the chances of something wrong related to the retune worth the advantages it brings?

I've asked this question a couple times and still hasn't been answered, I have a stick and i can tell that their is a little throttle lag will the say lidio tune and C&L be worth it?
Personally I think the C&L/X-Cal2 is worth it... even on a stick...

I'll see if I can get a definitive answer... but I know my dealership has NEVER EVER check my ECU! LOL!

I would imagine if you get certain items that are FORD PERFORMANCE RACING parts, and you get them installed at the dealership, that wouldn't void your warranty...

My dealership tried to tell me the same thing. Unbelievable. I've posted it three times, but if you read the warranty booklet that comes with your car it says right there that ford parts put in by a ford dealership won't viod anything

Do people honestly think that dealerships are dumb? You don't think they know how to check if you had your engine reflashed? As if they don't have the same equipment that ya'll buy on the internet for $300? Actualy, you're right, they don't. Theirs costs $30,000, have a gazillion of them, and can spinal tap your engine's *** like Bush wildest security-tap wet dream.
And you know what they will do? They will find a way to trace anything to your engine reflash. How? Oh they know how. They have mechanics who will makeup the most unlikely story to blame it on YOU. By the time you get an independant mechanic to assess the situation, you realize that you don't have the time or money to take Ford to court over their claim that it was the reflash which caused your, oh i dunno, your right tire to fly off its wheel; and not a faulty wheel lug.

Unless it was done by Ford, it will void the warranty. In about 10 years, I'm pretty sure that accessorizing the car with one of those giant fluffy rear view mirror dice will void the warranty.

that's complete BS... Find a good dealership... I've done MAJOR MODS to my car and I still get things fixed under warranty!!! I had my TPS replaced FOR FREE even though my Zex kit was spliced in to it! And I still had my Nitrous Tune loaded!!!

BTW check this out.. this is the Ford Racing Part warranty doc... notice how it says most part are sold "AS IS" LOL!

There are about 10 diffrent post on this subject in the V8 part of the forum, might get some diffrent answers down there.

Seems there is a line that half the members here say it won't half say it will, call your dealer and ask if installing mod xxx will void it,if they say yes and you call 10 others and only 1 says no that should tell ya something.

If you place lets say an S/C on and your engine starts acting funny and you take it to Ford and they tell you becuse of the S/C the warrenty is voided you will need to prove there wrong, you can quote Sema or who ever on the laws pertaining to warrentys, last time I was at my dealer they did not have a Law degree on the wall.

In the end if they do void it over some mod you will have to go to court to prove them wrong and that will cost some cash, then if you win you need to go back to court to recover any fees for your lawyers.

If Ford says that mod xxx is ok then go for it,if they say mod yyy is not your risking your warrenty some of these guys might have cool dealers that don't care some do, you go to one that does care and they void it thats goes into a data base and no dealer will or can honor the warrenty, then there are owners in here that can afford to drop 15 grand on a new engine so its no biggie to them.

Call Ford if they say no on mod yyy and you do it anyway get your warrenty voided then it's on you.

On a side note I have seen some 05-06 Stangs on E-Bay,Cars.com and Auto Trader and such with no warrenty,I emailed then and asked about it being as they were almost new, seems it was modded and lost the warrenty,I do not remember what the mods were and it was only a few of them listed like that, but they were cheap, might be a road to travel if are going to drop alot of cash on modding right off the bat, figure if you can drop 10 to 15 grand on mods you can afford to fix it your self.

I had an experience with this subject; I had a spring kit put on by a suspension shop and later had problems with strut bushings wearing out and causing all kinds of noise. I brought it to the dealer and they replaced the bushing because there was a TSB related to the problem. It happened again and they said it's being caused by a faulty spring and will not fix it on warranty; I called the suspension shop and they said there is no problem with the springs without even looking at it and won't do anything about it. The bottom line is I have to have the dealer install a lowering kit and they will honor the warranty. The lesson here is if you don't have the dealer do your mods you are on your own; pay them now or pay them later.
