Puleo, are you planning on using an indash dvd player, and connecting it to the carputer? Or are you just going to use a screen and connect it to carputer? I am also interested in doing this, but I dont want to spend over $1000. I have seen carputers on ebay for $400. Is this all you need (along with a screen) to hook it up?

i plan on getting either the XENARC 700TSVâ„¢ 7" TFT LCD Touchscreen Monitor or the lilliput. but the lilliput has perfect square shape and whatnot and i think thats how i would di it, just get the screen and connect it... I have an extra laptop w/ a p3 laying around and that prob could do hte trick or maybe ill just build up a new system and custom fit it somewhere in the car. this link has pics of someone who made a system in their trunk in a custom box enclosure and tells of everything u need or what he used rather... it doesnt look all that complicated if u know how 2 do computers and whatnot but we'll see... as i find more info about how 2 do it, my thoughts on it might change. do i wanna put the whole system in the double din spot or so i wanna put it in the trunk or something? I dunno... both have their benefits i think. and it also depends on what u have laying around thats useful to help keep costs down and stuff

Do it, im very happy with my carPC!!! My whole PC fits into the dash, lots of room in the new stang. If you run Navigation try iGuidance. Best part is you can always upgrade because its a PC!!! much better than any OEM units if you build it right. Right now im running 2 alpine amps one to push the 4 cabin speakers and one to push a 12" rockford punch sub. Much louder/cleaner than the shaker system. Im also using the onboard audo output on my motherboard. This project took me about 3 months to build but now I could do it in much less time. I've found a lot of interest in this subject and im working with a few people right now about building/installing one for them. My price is $2000 installed. Here is my thread about the build. BTW the xernac touchscreen is nice. Im using a 7" touchscreen fabbed into a aftermarket metra trim kit.

lol. its all good. but it really seems like it would be a lot of fun to do and seemspretty affordable and compared to a dvd/nav system about the same amount or even a lot less.... pricewatch has the motherboards depending on how much power u want from like 100-150 shipped and it comes /w the cpu and ram is about 30- 100 bucks shipped depending on how much u want and u get the lcd which is about 200-300 and if u have anything laying around the house thats useful like i have ur all set.
