Oil Changing... 3K miles or 5K miles

RE: Oil Changing... 3K miles or 5K miles
I've used 5000 mi. per the manuals on the last 3 new Ford's I bought. Had 123K on a '95 Windstar, 105K on a '98 F-150 and 85K on a '01 Taurus (all V6's by the way) and I never had any engine problems, never had an oil leak and never burned any oil.
Oil additive technology and engine technology have advanced beyond the days of every 3000 mi. The guys at the dealers and quick change places are telling you 3000 because they want to sell you service. The oil companies are telling you 3000 because they want to sell you oil.
If you drive a taxi or a UPS truck, change it every 3000 miles. If it's a passenger car, follow the manual.
