On several '05 Stangs I have seen here, there is a door guard that exactly covers the door, and does not extend beyond it. Is this aftermarket? Or was it part of some package offered by Ford. Where can I get one? Are they big enough to actually help? Not sure I like what it will do to the look of the car, but I HATE door gashes.

I have the on my car and I guess the dealer put them on cause some have them and some dont. I wouldnt bother with getting them because I still got a ding in my door by a truck that sits up higher than where they mount.

rental stangs and fleet cars only can option a door gaurd

A guy I work with just bought an 05 that was a rental unit. it has the door guards.
I wouldnt want them but he likes them.

i saw LITERALLY hundreds of reantal v6 stangs around vegas last week. all of em had those door guard things. i think they are ugly, but whatever

In the Chicago area, when I look at the used car guides they give out for free at supermarkets and such, MOST, if not all of the advertised '05 and '06 used 'verts all have those door guards. Is this the same in other parts of the country? Kinda made me glad I wasn't shopping for a used 'vert.

Only rentals and fleets cars have that option. I still haven't gotten a clear definition of exactly what a fleet car is though.

Either way, that strip is ugly as **** and ruins the look of the car. Glad mine doesn't have one.
