the cooler air doesnt make the engine run cooler. The cooler air is just more dense. Which means more oxygen, which means more "boom" in the combustion chamber, which means more power.

The GT guys are only seeing a few hp if any at all. it is almost 100% cosmetic. There is a guy on ebay that designs custom parts(that look very well made I might add) and he has a shaker system coming out very soon for $500.

+1. Realistic gains are along the lines of 2 to 3 hp. The reason is simple, the looooong plumbing required to get the air from the scoop over to the intake box negates almost all of the gains. The air has to travel so far that it is no longer "ram" air, and it also gets warm again traveling through the engine compartment. The shaker setup is really for looks, it's only marginally functional.

this is pretty much a cosmetic upgrade, so if you are looking for actuall gains, look into a better intake

so the shaker doesnt actually put it right into the throttle body?

No, the CDC shaker setup has a tube that runs from the side of the lower part of the scoop across the engine and ties into the stock airbox. The Fang version is a little different, it replaces the entire hood (thus the higher cost), but even that one has ducting inside the new hood that routes the air over to the airbox, which has a seal that closes off to a new opening directly over it. It's really odd- the air goes into the scoop, then from the scoop up into some holes in the hood, through the ducting built into the hood and down into the stock airbox. It's really just an excuse for people to call it a "real" ram air system, but it doesn't have a fraction of the benefits of the original 70's version which dumped straight into the carb.

Yep, this is correct. I actually talked to a GT guy that had one, gain was like 3HP. But it looks really cool.

Oh, I didn't realize that the hood was included, in fact I didn't notice it at first.

I wish I knew why my car is so damn flat off the line. [:@]
