get some headers in there...it would be better than the driveshaft...more torque...

headers are minimal gain, you would definately see more gains from a lightweight 1 piece driveshaft.

Actually, a custom drive-shaft is not that expensive. I ordered one from a place in Texas for about $350. It's about 30% lighter than the stock shaft despite still being a steel shaft but it's much stronger that the stock one. The stock drive-shaft on our cars are technically one piece drive-shafts, slip in tube, whereas the GT's are actual two pice drive-shafts. I'll be getting mine in next week and hopefully will get it installed by the weekend.
