yah the clutch is a noisy POS i hate it, its the worste mistake they made on the car, the tranny shifts like crap too but hey, its a stang and i wouldnt trade it for anyother basemodel car.

Paul
I agree with that...its a car with a truck engine and a truck tranny and the synchronizers are loud as heck..and i cant seem to dirve it with bare feet or they start to hurt...

Ok so I filled my car up with 87 and the problem is still there.....granted I have not really run on that tank for too long, I don't think it's related to the gas....

Does anybody else's 5 speed tranny give a slight rattle/clatter in neutral? Basically when I start up the car in the morning and pop it into neutral, I hear the a rattle that sounds very similar to the clutch when engaging at slow speeds...it's more of a rhythmic clatter. The reason I ask is because that is a very watered down version of the clatter I hear in 4th gear at 2,000rpms when I try to give it some go. If it is the same thing causing noise, I'm not sure how and why my car just did not run/sound right coming home from work yesterday....I have not had the problem of that severity since then.

The worst I'm hearing now is the clatter in 4th gear at low RPMs and *not* while cruising...only while testing acceleration (which I know is garbage at that gear). That and a little clutch/tranny rattle in neutral when the car is idle. But the two sound very similar *and* it's performance affecting at its worst...

Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

Not sure if this sounds the same but I saw a TSB for the 2006 as follows:

Summary:

Wds cop kit diagnostic tip - coil on plug (cop) ignition systems - engine misfire or rough running. *tt

Ok, so this problem only happens after I've been going 80 on the freeway for about 30 minutes (my drive home from work). When I get off the freeway, the engine really feels like it's working overtime, but the temp gauge has not moved...

This is also when it starts getting noisy......nobody else notice this with their '06 5 speeds after going high speed for a while?

Seems to match up with this TSB pretty well:
Wds cop kit diagnostic tip - coil on plug (cop) ignition systems - engine misfire or rough running. *tt

Could be somethin else tho!

I'm at the dealership right now and they have been looking at my car for about 2 hours now. I am fearing the worst and will post the results to this thread when they come back to me

Update:

Their computer diagnostics can't find any bad parts. Only took them 3 hours to get that information back to me....the service manager here is taking it for a spin....they're claiming they can't hear it *or* feel rough running, but they are obviously on crack....

Ok so, they were unable to find anything. I'm really dissapointed with their so called "service". The guy basically told me that if their diagnostic shows nothing is wrong with any parts, there is nothing they can really do. He suggested to put some more miles on it and see if it gets any worse. I think I need to take it to a REAL mechanic.....

Also, this whole process took nearly 5 hours. They took it for a drive and couldn't hear the obvious grinding noise..... [:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]
