Default Swap the thermostat?

I've heard of people with other cars swapping out the stock thermostat for one that runs cooler. Supposedly this gives more power. Does anyone agree / disagree / done this?

to a point it will give more power. Generally 180F is the lowest you want to go for a street driven car. Essentially the car runs cooler thus the air in the intake is denser. Denser air leads to more fuel being introduced into the combustion chamber. More air and Fuel = more power.

160F though is too low an can cause your car to run rich or not get out of the closed loop system for smog equipment.
