I hate to hear stories like this. It's what I deal with at work (I'm the guy in tha ambulance who bears that bad news "it my be totaled"). God have I said that many times. Really sorry to hear that, but like you said, sometimes theres nothing you can do. I almost had one on the highway today, but luckily it wasn't sunny and I saw the guy behind me wasnt stopping. I hopped into the shoulder, and he took out the bumper of the car that WAS in front of me. I stopped to help of course, but hey... although I feel bad, better him than me. Besides, the car in front of me was a ****ty civic with four different colors on the panels and the doors didnt close. I think it had no exhaust lol. Thats Newark for you.

Glad to hear your Ok.. and your insurance company is on it. I know what you are feeling.. and it's not a good place to be. All in all.. and this is easy to say.. but it's just a car... a tool that can be replaced...
On that note.. 4 years ago I was able to by my first "sporty" car (Mazda 6).. after owning 4 cyl trucks my entire life.
After having my Mazda 6 for two weeks.. I went to have the windows tinted. While driving home afer the tinting.. and you know how you feel after something like that (stare at the car every chance you get).... Some feakin old lady blew threw a stop sign and nailed me. She didn't even hit the breaks.. just kept on going.. pushing my car out of the way. The cop at the scene was seriously pissed at her.. and felt really sorry for me.
Since it was the first year the 6's came out.. the dealer didn't even have the replacement parts. I had to drive a rented Chevy Impala for 3 months.
That changed me.

BTW.. I just traded that car in for my Mustang... and just tinted the windows today. All day I was paranoid about someone hitting me.

Well, here is some of the damage. I know what the paramedic meant when he said it was buckled. Both rear fenders are right above the wheel. I dont know what it's going to cost, but it doesn't look like it's enough to total it out. The front facia will need to be replaced as well as the drivers seat but I didn't take a pic. I looked underneath and everything looked intact. The mufflers were not even loose. But I'm not a mechanic. If they do not total it, my only concern will be to make sure it's 100% just like before.

Thanks again for all the well wishes. When I here from the adjuster next week I'll pass along the verdict.

wow. that looks pretty rough man.

when you bought the car, was it new from the dealer? if so, did you get the payment option that if the car was totaled or stolen, you wouldn't have to make payments on it. it's some form of payment insurance. it comes in handy, just in case.

i hope everything comes out ok for you.

I have GAP insurance where if it's totaled they pay off the difference between what is owed and the total value.

It was bought brand new from the dealer. I attached a pic I took with the cell phone the day it she came home. Alot of mod$ were put into her. I hope it's not totaled, but only if it can be restored to 100%.
