no. the new 2.5 in the wrx is not quite as strong as in the sti, but is a much better motor/tranny combo than the 2.0 wrx's. very good platform. 12's are attainable with a few grand in mods and that thing can handle amazingly. i was VERY close to buying one, but i just couldn't see myself driving it, plus it was a bit expensive as they just came out. VERY nice car tho, lots of respect for it.
