AGREED! my gf 'made' me get my last car, an 06 civic si. hated that car, i wanted a mustang. we would fight day and night over it.she's one of those regular anti-domestic car types.andthe fighting continueduntil the dayi folded out of frustrationand got the car she wanted for me, not the car that i wanted.

realizing my mistake, i traded that car for my black 07 mustang as soon as i financiallycould. ilove this car.this is my car, not hers!lesson learned, don't let anyone force feed you what car to get.

I disagree. RWD is a different world for those people who've spent most of the time driving FWD, but that doesn't mean FWD is better in snow. I'm sorry to be the dissenter, but I think RWD is better.

One of the things I really like about the Mustangs I've owned is the total honesty about traction. They tell you when there's a problem with traction. FWD cars don't tell you - you think everything is fine until the wheels finally lose it, and then it's too late to do anything about it.

Every form of motor racing that I can think of uses vehicles which drive from the rear. Maybe that's a carry-over from when everything seemed to be rear-wheel drive. Or, I believe, maybe it's because FWDjust can't perform as well. Snowmobiles, motorcycles, dragsters, dirt track, Indy, F1, NASCAR - none of them have FWD. There are a few which have 4WD or AWD, yes.

But, if it's either front or rear, I'll trust rear to get me through the worst weather.

as for the eclipse gt and v6 stang, its obvious that when both are compared to in stock condition, they are not on the same level. he needs to decide what he wants for the future of the car and what potential each has. if its all about performance off the lot, then he should drop the v6 and consider the strip down mustang gt which falls closer to the eclipse in price and has a LOAD of more potential.

 

Not to say that the Ford dealership network is all that, but have you ever gone to a Mitsu dealership? They are usually run on very thin profit and those dealerships have tons of used cars on their lots(I guess in order to survive) at least IME. Mitsu cars aren't known for their reliability or great resale value.If it weren't for the EVO, how many Mistu productsdoyou see on the road on a regular basis?
Like others have said, if your partner can afford an Eclispe GT than he should be able to afford a Mustang GT, but for my money, I'd rather buy a V-6 'Stang and mod it.
To answer the question of predominately RWD or AWD in motorsports, is A) Chassis balance with rear drive, being able to drive the car with the throttle. B) AWD, well duh? Ultimate traction(at the expense of more parts useage, higher weight, but the advantages outweigh the negatives with a great design).
Let's face it FWD is for economic reasons only. It's cheaper to design a vehicle with it's entire drivetrain in one location and as a bonus it allows for freed up space in the passenger compartment.
FWD is creepy to drive and you also have to change the damn CV joints(still don't understand why Accords, Camrys and the like are so popular. Then again we live in a country where "American Idol" is the top rated show[:'(])

lol, ya i'm allowed to mod the car. i have a few things done.but every now and then i get the "you should be buying stuff for meor my carinstead, not you" type deal. haha.

me and her come from different worlds. she's the rich girl type, who comes from a veryrich family. who likes to have everything her way.thank god she's not as bad as her older sister. her sister hasthe paris hilton attitude written all over her. but afteri got the stang,she's calmed down a littlebit from her ways, and a bunch of stuff hit her including reality and thati'm my own person. etc...etc...
