Default Update on the "Vette vs. GT" idea

Ok guys, I was very suprised with my decision. I posted earlier, asking what u guys thought I should get for the same price range, a C5 vette or GT. I drove both today.

First off, I took out a 2007 redfire GT, 5-speed manual, shaker 1000 (total ripoff! 1,700???). I was extremely impressed at how the car handled, gripped the road very well. No transmission noise, shorter throw gearbox, nice clutch, ballsy as hell sounding with a stock exhaust, accelerated nice (didnt blow me away, but was still pretty insane)

Next, test drove a 27,000 mile 2000 vette, stick, out of my price range but at least it gave me a feel for the car. It was low riding, rode nice (not as comfortable as the GT), handled well, accelerated awesome.

However, the acceleration between the GT and the Corvette was not that different. They were really close, the vette didnt feel like it really had that much more power. My brother agreed wholeheartedly, he drove both cars too. When I got back home, I checked the local ford dealer to see what they had, and some guy was tear-assing out of the parking lot in an 07' GT with FRPP stingers. Holy ****. So, to make a long story short, im set on a GT now, cuz it feels the same basically in acceleration, rides more comfortable, and is new.

I agree about the Vette not being very comfortable. A friend had a Corvette and would let me drive it sometimes to work. It is very low to the ground and you have to crawl in to get seated, plus there is no back seat.
I do think the GT is a better buy. Not only that, but ask any Vette owners how much they pay for their cars being serviced.....a lot more than you would shell out for the GT.

That was the major issue - this vette only had 27K on it, and was BEAT. There were shakes, rattles, scratches, interior was meseed up, whistling sounds where targa top didnt seal, and it came out to me MORE then a GT.

Not to bash 'vette owners....well Ok Im Bashing,...but as a breed they aren't that smart about cars, It's mostly just about how much more $ they have than you....and how low they can unbutton their shirt as their comb-over blows in the wind......

To be fair, I did see and was admiring a yellow vette with black striped, manual trans. and an obviously built engine under the hood with a loud *** exhaust system the other day. You could hear the schaweet sound dual turbo's and a blow off valve vented directly to the atmosphere!
It had "go ahead, mess with me,make my day" written all over it!
The driver was obviously a pro' mechanic.
I complemented him on his ride, "I do love the sound of a Chevy engine!"and he complemented me right back. "thanks!, nice lookin stang man"
I'd say he was in his mid 30's.
If we had the time, we'd probalby of pulled over somewhere and talked shop. Cool guy!
