Default rear end and gears

I was looking to get the t-lok and new gears for my manual or a 8.8 rear with gears. the 8.8 is about 500 more with the install than staying at a 7.5 is this really worth the extra money? I am not going to the track but I do like to accelerate hard when I am driving around, hence only getting 17 mpg. Should I get the 8.8 or stay with the 7.5, and should I get 3.73 or 4.10s for my manual. I do plan on getting a CAI and tune too if that makes a difference. Thanks

8.8 is detrimental to you unless you plan on going to the track with f/i and drag radials. all the people who have broke 7.5's have been running at least 300rwhp, and well over that in rwtq, and all have only done it with drag radials. the last guy who did it was running like 340/360 with the 7.5 fine until he put drag radials, then he broke it. I am running about 270rwhp and I have done a launches at 3k rpm and my 7.5 didnt complain at all

what i am saying is, unless you are planning to be pretty hardcore, dont get the 8.8. it is just an extra 80lb lump on your car

for gears, people say 3.73 for manual....I am not sure why people say that though..

edit: 270 is a really sad number...i definitely need up the boost [&:]

As for which gears to get it depends on your driving. If you do a lot of highway driving then 3:73s would be a better choice. If you aren't going to be a lot of highway driving and want more performance then 4:10s would be the choice for you.

I'm staying with my 3.31s as I do 90% highway driving.

My T-LOK has been driven pretty hard and no problems yet!

well i have been throwing around the idea of a supercharger some time, but really have no plans to go to any tracks. So would the 7.5 still work for street driving with a supercharger. I like the procharger and the xcharger, which would benefit me more for street driving. Thanks

How about getting the 8.8 so when you up the boost and if the rear brake you'll have your backup rear-end. Once I go f/I and hit 300hp I will get the 8.8 and put it alway in my garage, so when the7.5 brake I be ready. I'm looking to do 400/400 or very close, and I know the damn thing will back soon or later.

The xcharger has more power down low and is better for the street while the procharger is better for track running and makes more power high up. The 7.5 will work with a s/c fine but I would def get an LSD and maybe some 3.73s.

ok im not going to comment on the gears because it was said clearly. only go with the 8.8 if you are boosting big numbers otherwise you will be fine. any supercharger you go with will need to be dyno tuned unless you want to have problems the included tune is basically if you install yourself and wanna use it to drive tot he shop.

procharger= more maximum power but power is at higher rpms because it is a centrifigal supercharger.(idk if i spelled that right)

vortech supercharger pretty much the same as procharger but has been reported as more reliable.

xcharger is nice less maximum hp but more low end torgue and power gives power in lower rpm it is a roots type supercharger.

one thing you have to ask yourself are there any shps around you to do the install? or can you do it yourself. you can run the 7.5 on a s/c but the t-lok would be best.
