The N/A way!
No! It's not my dad's car. He just put insurance under his name, pays for half of that, paid for 2/3 of the price of the car, and since I live at home, doesn't want to see it destroyed(charger w/9psi+) or I leave the house.I want the charger, but I don't want to pay rent somewhere else. He will allow any NA mod Ido. He's seen a few cars withmoderate psi(8-11) blow there engines.Do u think my parents would need help w/bills if they gave me $12k towards a car? I like the idea of the custom tune and wonder how much different would the HPgains be from a dyno tune? and how much hp different from a canned tune?Iwas gonna dyno afterall the installs, but if the custom tunes cheaper and not so much different from adyno'sgains, I'll do that. Also, are there any places that sell just cams for our cars? Thanx ahead of time!

i went from Diablo's 91 perf canned tune to Bamma's 91 torq/race tunes and it was a very nice improvement. the car responds MUCH better and from the feedback i have recieved, the diff between a dyno tune and a quality mail order tune is minimal. a dyno tune is not worth the price difference. their are times where a dyno tune is neccesary but with your current mods, a mail order tune is more logical.
i still think there is quite a bit to be had from heads/cams, but as of now the only thing we have to go off of is a like 10hp gain from ported and polished heads....which is not worth the money . Someone has to be the guniea pig, but it sure as hell isn't gonna be me.
Thanx for the help. Not gonna due heads or cam b/c separatlythere not worth it(10-15hp each)and together w/install and dyno tune they willcost $3.5-$4k(I won't beable to make that tillApril or May!)installed and probably net 50-80hp. On the mail order tunes,I read there is about a 5hp difference and $125between a dyno and Bama tune. How much hp/torque do u think u gained with this over a canned tune? And which tune(performance, torque, race) do u think is best for the street? best for the 1/4? Thanx again, definitly gonna do this after all the bolt-ons.
the "feeling" of the custom tunes is definately noticed. throttle response is probably the biggest thing i felt. although the canned tunes are solid standard tunes, you realize how much they are missing once you go custom. as for the diff between race and torq, race seems to pull a little harder in the higher rpms. the torq is great off the line. IMO, for all around driving, the race may fit you better but if you do more short city driving like i tend to do, then the torq will be a nice choice. i have bamma's 87 perf, 91 torq, and 91 race. i just loaded my 91 torq back in after my long trip using the 87 perf.
Thanx for the help, gonna due the torque tunethan after the ram air and fullexhaust. Maybe UDP's too. All this is gonna be done over the next 5 months. Exhaust first, then ram air, then Bama Torque tune and maybe UDP. Along there if I have extra cash, I'll do the weight reduction, BMR front sway/radiator kit, and does anybody know any thing else under $500 I can buy for weight reduction. Also, did they tell u how much hp and torque u had when u gotthe tunes? wondering. Thanx again for all the help!
i have not run a dyno at all on my car so i can't give you any before and after numbers but there are plenty of other members who have. ask around the forums for some dyno results. good luck with your mods. i myself am leaning towards staying N/A just to keep my car as reliable and complication free as possible. still have gears and t-lok on my wish list but not much after that for performance mods. of course this may change soon enough[8D].
