Does anyone make the twist off hood pins like on the 1970 Mach 1 for the S197?

Jeepers!

People are afraid to drill a 1/2" hole in their hood, and you're looking to pop in a THREE INCH hole!

You are brave, my friend...

LOL - yeah but I like the look of the twist off better and the lack of wires running up and possibly rubbing the paint. When I rented the Shelby GTH, I noticed that the hood had some marks from the wires.
I'm lookingahead to a later appearance mod though -- the 67 or 68 Shelby style hood, so won't install it myself and the body shop can cut the holes.

The wires are coated in a plastic covering.

Had them on my 1970 Cougar. No paint rubbing even at 140... Although my antenna (which had a giant spring at the base) would lay down on my windshield at 130 and it DID dent the chrome trim around the window!

Somewhere I have a photo and the only part where the sun is reflecting off the car is where the dent was...

The steel plates however, were prone to denting... maybe they are thicker now. Mine ended up with creases where the pins hit the plate... musta bounced pretty good, but the plates were only 1/16" thick, kinda flimsy I guess.

Held the hood on and that's all that mattered.
