something to brag about [8D]........actually,they should eliminate/reduce restriction of the exhaust gases as they exit the engine. supposedly on our stangs, the benefit of headers isnt huge since the factory manifold design is adequate. ceramic headers are the priciest becuase they are the most effecient. they act like insulation keeping the gases inside the headers hot and faster moving and at the same time, keep the exterior temps down.

So here is a noob question... what bonus do headers give you?
a few

1.) Larger diameter tubes than stock means more flow.
2.) Quality headers like JBA have equal length tubes
3.) Stock manifolds and headers have rough edges from the casting process, aftermarket headers polish the tubes inside and out, same as polish job on heads, making the exhaust gases flow through with no restrictions or changes in velocity.
4.) Ceramic coated headers dissapates the heat off the exhaust evenly and more effeciently than stainless steel or cast
5.) More flow equals more sound, exhaust sound is helped tremendously with header upgrade. Also the flow leaving the aftermarket headers will improve the vaccum of exhaust gases out of the cylinder and through the exhaust runner more effectively.

Hope this helps Oddysey!

Yea it does, I was familiar with several of those, but I just didn't think it would make a noticable difference on our 6's.

On our cars with all the room under the hood I wouldnt charge more than 2 hrs to install headers. Typical labor rates here range from $50-$70 hr.

it won't make any noticeable diiferent in power. The stock heads won't flow enough to get any benefit from headers, and the shorty headers aren't equal length anyway. They may give you a better or different exhaust note which you may prefer over the stock manifolds.

If you added more air in, as in a CAI, a tune, larger MAF sensor/throttle body you may derive some benefit from headers. But just to through a set on and expect results probably won't happen.

But, I like headers, I like the sound of headers. So by all means if you want headers go for them. Just don't expect any hp increase unless you're going to make any more modifications to your engine intake.

Ok so do you guys think it's worth doing JBA Headers if your are going to do a CAI and a tuner?

I have dual GT Mufflers now but I was thinking of changing to the JBA Duals with H Pipe what do you guys think? worth it?

worth it or not, ima do it when i gather the funds. improved sound with a little extra pep is good enough for me. its also peace of mind that there is less stress on the engine. JMO.
