V6 reliabilty question...

RE: V6 reliabilty question...
2005 Stang here! And I'm 200 miles from hitting 60K! About 75% of it is freeway miles too. Daily driver, driven all the time! Two trips down to LA/San Diego...that's 800-1000K each trip. Only thing I had to replace are tires and wheels...but that was by choice for an upgrade from 16s to 18" American Racing and bigger wider tires Stock Brakes still have 80% pad life, stock rotors are good. Regular maintenance such as spark plugs changes, oil changes and the addition of a CAI and tune. NO complaints on this car, it's never let me down. Besides the Ford TSBs you can find on this site...which still didn't keep me from driving her everyday! Good luck!

RE: V6 reliabilty question...
I have to say the 4.0 is a very reliable engine. My had an '00Ranger with a 4.0which we traded for an '06 4.0 Mustang, the Ranger had well over 100K and we didn't have a lick of trouble. It's like about everyone else is saying, maintain it and it will run forever.

RE: V6 reliabilty question...
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I haven't had so much luck with my 2006. The engine is great. No problems there. The problems are everywhere else. I've had problems with fuel filling, water leakage in the passenger side, electrical problems on top of that and brake problems.
Ford has alot of TSBs out there on our cars but that still doesn't excuse the poor manufacturing nor does it take away from the headache you'll go through when it finally breaks. (and hopefully it breaks under warranty because if it doesnt, you'll pay for it. even if its a TSB).

Try this and see if it works.

RE: V6 reliabilty question...
Ive had my 05 for 2 years now and have put almost 60K on it. Drive it all the time .. freeway.. hard through the city or passing or whatever .. very responsive and very reliable... im also trying to find the exact source but Ford recently surpassed Toyota in reliability thanks mostly because of the S197 stangs and the new fusions. just my .02... glad to see that youre interested and you couldnt have picked a better year to buy an american icon (except maybe 1967-68 fastback =P shelby of course)

Yea...the 90 degree thing works for me before I got mine fixed under TSB (free) too. Definitelya more reliable car than my 2004 Nissan Sentra that I bought brand new before this.
