I did a before and after of Y pipe vs. X pipe on the dyno when my 4.0 was NA. 2rwhp gain, which could have been attributed to anything.

2 Hp huh? Now that's disappointing...

Since we're on the subject; a lot of the X Pipes I've seen for sale say "For off road use only"... what is so off road about an X-pipe, if you leave the cats alone?

Not all x-pipes are off road, those pipes your looking at are labeled "off-road" because they delete the stock catalytic converters, which is illegal in many states.

SO wait, where can you buy the X pipe that comes in the Ford FRPP M-5230-GTA/B kits? I thought you needed an x pipe SPECIFIC for the V6 since the diameter is different than a V8.
Thanks

Guys don't forget that your local muffler shop can fab just about anything you want, more often then not for cheaper than it costs all put together online. For the V6 I think an excellent route (the way I went) was a GT pypes mid muffler system (cant beat that mid muff sound imo!) and my local shop fabed a H pipe for really cheap and did an excellent job.
