2005 Rear Wiring Harness
I had my 2005 in for its third oil change this past week (I change every 3000 miles). The first two I had done at a dealer near my office, the the third one at the dealership where I bought the car.
What a difference in dealership service departments. At this third oil change, my buying dealership service manager came to me and told me that the rear, passenger side marker light was out and that it would take a little extra time to change the bulb. A few minutes later he came back with the tech servicing my car and told me the bulb appeared to be fine, that the tech had found that the factory had not hooked up the marker light to the plug, the plug had been hanging free under the car where I couldn't see it...they had to use a flashlight to trace the problem down. The plug is so corroded he can't plug it back to the light. The dealership near my office didn't check anything...just did the oil changes I asked for, no review of vehicle systems.
The tech said he could splice a new plug into the harness but really didn't want to do that on a new car. He wants to install a whole new rear harness, all warranty work of course. To install the new harness they have to remove the rear bumper from the car, the harness apparently wraps around the back and has the tail lights, license plate lights, and side marker lights hooked into it.
Hopefully mine was the only car where the factory forgot to plug this in.........Oh, guess which dealership I will be taking the car back to in the future for service work?
