Default Is this normal?!

When I put my car into Park it has to roll quite aways and then it makes a "Clicking" noise (thats how I know when its in park). Should it be doing this? Because if I'm on a small hill or anything like that I probably roll a good 3-6" before it clicks.

Is this normal? If not, what could be wrong?

It is normal in an automatic, there is some play before it locks in. If it bothers you just put on your emergency brake. Mine does it every time

Ok thanks! Also, is it really hard on the car if I let off the brake quickly if I'm parked on a hill or something and it rolls into that too fast? (I usually ease of the brake ever so slowly, but sometimes I dont think and let the brake out and it rolls into that "Click" really fast.)

I did just use my Emergency brake for the first time about 20 minutes ago. When I turned my car back on it started up kind of funny (made a screeching noise)

Its the parking pawl that is engaging a toothed wheel on the output shaft of the tranny. Its spring loaded and it should jump into the first
available slot, not pass up a few slots before finally engaging.

I would check your transmission shifter adjustment for proper
operation.

They are correct. But, it's kinda bad for the transmission. It puts the entire weight of the car on that pawl. When you shift into gear to get started, you have to pull those teeth apart under the weight of the car.

The best way to prevent wear is to set the parking brake, take your foot off the brake pedal, and then shift into park.

If your on a hill put on your E brake so your not resting on the gear that way when you go back to drive, you will have a smooth shift.
thats the only time i use the E brake

Good, I thought I was the only one that was experiencing this... When I put it in park, I always use the E-Brake, on a hill or not. I also noticed that when its in park it shifts a little until it clicks. Wierd LOL

All automatics do that.

I have an 05 stang and I used my ebrake in the winter....BAD move. My e-brake froze to my caliper and I had to wait until noon the following day for it to unfreeze. Just a heads up. ;-)
