applying vinyl rally stripes? can i do this myself?

stripes
the vinyl stripes are doable provided you are patient and have some knowledge about vinyl. I recommend testing it on a different surface so you get used to how the material behaves. The worst enemy of these kits is dirt trapped under the stripe. First timers should have a buddy to help out. All kits should come with instructions on how to apply it. I have done mine twice (thanks to my cats) with no problems. I only used the wet method.
some pointers to remember:
1) clean your entire car thoroughly
2) pull the car in the garage, close door and wet garage floor (dust control)
3) clean areas with alcohol
4) keep water hose and soapy solution nearby
5)use masking tape to mark lay down points
6)pull stripe completely off backing and immediately spray soapy solution on sticky back
7) wrap the squeegee with microfiber rag to prevent scratching the stripe
8) squeegee water out from center of stripe to sides
9) let the car sit outside in the sun for a day
10) good luck with the bumpers and spoilers - those are tuff to do

IMO, pay someone to do it. $1500 is crackhead prices, but this is a major undertaking, especially if you've never done this kind of thing before. I had my friend (owner) of a body shop do all my vinyl. I think it cost me $100 for the Parnelli Jones kit and he charged me $120 to put everything on...not one air bubble and everything is straight as an arrow.
Check body shops that do striping, most of these guys do a little bit of everything!
Detail shops that do upgrades (even Ziebart superstores have specialty guys that do vinyl.)
Even graphics places like Fastsigns have vinyl installers, in fact when I had my Tiburon, Fastsigns installed my graphics DRY and did a phenominal job.
The bottom line is jump into the yellow pages and call everybody. Places that don't do it almost always know someone that does. What about a mustang club in your area?
Any vinyl that is not on a flat, linear surface is a bitch to get right. Just my 2 cents.

Air bubbles and other issues are hard to avoid when you do it yourself
