Default My muffler is stuck to my car! oh noes!

I finally got my exhaust put on my 05 V6, but the axleback mufflers I have are soooo super quiet. Obviously I want to fix that so today I tried to switch them out with some normal gt axlebacks. Problem is, when the guy who installed my exhaust in the first place put the mufflers on, he used clamps that were too small for the pipe so he pretty much forced them on which made the pipe squeeze together in the place where the clamp is. So I took off all the hangers and stuff that keeps the muffler attached to the car, but when I tried to pull it off from the midpipe, it wouldn't come off. I can twist it around all I want but that's about it. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get it off?? I don't really want to take it back to the shop since they will probably charge me to take it off.

Here is a picture of the clamp so you can see how a small one would put a dimple in the pipes.

use a rubber mallet to convince the muffler to slide back. the rubber mallet shouldn't damage the muffler at all, try twisting and tapping at the same time? maybe have someone give you a hand by pulling from one end, twisting while you "tap" the muffler

Depends, though, on how much the U clamp distorted the pipes, too. That's why I don't use those kinds of clamps on anything that might need to come apart some day; get appropriate band clamps that don't distort the pipes and you won't have these issues again. Yeah, the U clamps are cheaper, and OK until you need to take them apart!

Well that's all the guy had so I just told him to go with it
Also there is some rattle going on from the muffler i believe, so I'll take it back to the shop and maybe have them take off the mufflers for me and replace them with others since the ones I have are super quiet.
