Default JBA Shorty Headers....

I know these have been discussed before, but has anyone ever had their 05 Dynoed after having these put on? Is there a great deal of difference in the sound and performance? Also, what was the cost of install?

I haven't had a dyno yet... but my butt dyno sure felt a difference! The first thing I noticed was the sound... it actually surprised me! Much louder and quicker revving. My installer charged for 4 hours labor and said the install was very easy.

Headers are a definite "DIY" job. Very easy for most cars.

I don't know how the hardware that comes with the JBAs are, but I've ordered Edelbrock headers for my Avalanche, and you really have to read the directions to make sure they won't leak on you.

Usually it involves using the appropriate lock washers (should come with them) and retightening at least once after a few hundred miles.

Personally, I don't buy into the whole "don't use headers 'cause they leak" argument. I checked mine after a few hundred miles like the instructions said, and they were still incredibly tight.

A mechanic with a lift and it took 4 hours? Doesn't sound like an easy install to me. I wouldn't think any more than 2 at most with all the proper tools, etc. By the way, do you need MIF eliminators with shorty headers? Don't think so but thought I would ask.

4 hours?? I didn't see that part of the post!

It took me 3 hours to install headers (errr, a header) on my friend's Honda a few years back! Sounds like he was taking his sweet time!
