Default Gear indicator

So tonight I was at the car wash since I have salt and stuff on the car. I went to put the the car in park to wait and the indicator stayed at D. Can anyone tell me what is wrong or how to fix it?

dID THE TRANNY STAY IN d AS WELL?
Its internal to the shifter mechanisim.
Maybe a TCI ratcheting shifter is in your near future.
Pull her apart and asses the problem then fix it.
Simple enough.

I don't wanna sound dumb but I have no idea what that is. Where can I find this to research it. The tranny did not stay in drive. I would be really upset if that happen
