2010 Painted Mirror Skull Cap Install
I installed some painted skull caps today and really like the results. I thought I'd share in case anyone else was interested.
I bought these from DG Custom Auto in El Cajon, CA. They cost $120 including tax and shipping. The arrived 10 days after I ordered them.
Here is a picture of the stock mirror before installation. Boring.
This is the newly painted replacement from DG Custom. It's a factory Ford part that's painted to match your car color. Mine is Grabber Blue and the color match is dead on.
Here is my mirror after removing the stock cover. It took quite a bit of persuasion to get off, but I managed not to break anything.
The new part snaps into place and looks great IMHO.

I got skullcaps from American Muscle that just install over the existing ones with 3M tape. They were only about $80 and came painted to match my body color. Honestly, you can't tell that it's not original.

Thanks!
It takes some work, but really you just sort of grab it from the inboard side of the cover and pull up and out. When it gives, the sound is unnerving because it sounds like you just ripped your mirror off, but it just unsnaps then and you snap the new one on. Don't use any tools, otherwise you'll likely ruin your mirror.
