Talking 2010 Painted Mirror Skull Cap Install

I installed some painted skull caps today and really like the results. I thought I'd share in case anyone else was interested.

I bought these from DG Custom Auto in El Cajon, CA. They cost $120 including tax and shipping. The arrived 10 days after I ordered them.

Here is a picture of the stock mirror before installation. Boring.

This is the newly painted replacement from DG Custom. It's a factory Ford part that's painted to match your car color. Mine is Grabber Blue and the color match is dead on.

Here is my mirror after removing the stock cover. It took quite a bit of persuasion to get off, but I managed not to break anything.

The new part snaps into place and looks great IMHO.

Looks great man! Mine came painted. If they hadn't I definitely would've had them painted too. I'm waiting for the Agent 47 mirrors to come out for the 2010s. Those are sweet!

I'm definitely getting these. So how exactly did you get the cover off without busting the mirror? I have little patience with these things lol. Just pry it around with a flathead or what?

I got skullcaps from American Muscle that just install over the existing ones with 3M tape. They were only about $80 and came painted to match my body color. Honestly, you can't tell that it's not original.

It takes some work, but really you just sort of grab it from the inboard side of the cover and pull up and out. When it gives, the sound is unnerving because it sounds like you just ripped your mirror off, but it just unsnaps then and you snap the new one on. Don't use any tools, otherwise you'll likely ruin your mirror.

Looks really good. I like how they snap on/off unlike ours which are taped.

I just picked up a set of the pre-painted american muscle mirror covers. They make a really nice addition to the boring mirrors on the 05-09 mustangs. Highly recommend.
