The Photoshop was easy, but actually executing it will be a whole other story. Do I paint the entire emblem black and then go in with model paint and a tiny brush for the tri-bar, or mask off the stripes, and simply spray the black? (The masking will be a pain!)
I like your idea...but I think it would look on any color car other than black.

I really like the idea, the mock-up looks great. But I think it would belong on a colored car, not black. In my head I see a black car with two small sets of red, white, and blue stripes with a dark spot in the middle. It would look good up close, but from a few feet away I think you will loose the pony and just see a dark spot in the middle of the stripes.
I think you are on to something with the black pony, just not on a black car. To go with the blackout theme, my opinion is loose the emblem and just fill the holes.
