Default Should I buy this 2008 Mustang? Reacquired vehicle by Ford!

Hey all! We are considering buying a 2008 v6 Mustang. Here is the issue. It was a Reacquired Vehicle (RAV) from California. The paperwork states that the previous owner complained that the gas pedal stuck. Ford got it back under the California Lemon Law, tried to duplicate the problem, tested it, hooked it up to the computer, etc. and couldn't find anything.

My local dealer is now selling it for a reasonable price.

Does anyone have any experience buying a RAV from Ford? Has anyone else had a similar problem? Is it just the floor mats OR something more serious? I don't know much about Mustangs and it was recommended on my Cougar forums to come here and ask.

Thanks for the help!

Unless I'm wrong, before the Lemon Law kicks in, the car has to have persistent problems and the dealer has many opportunities to fix them. The car wouldn't be branded a lemon if it was something as simple as floot mats. I'd be really careful here. I'd do this only if the dealer gave me an outstanding deal, you had access to FULL records, and you could get the car checked independently. THere are a million '08s around. No need to take on problems needlessly. It this was me, I'd stay far away.

If it were me, I would be careful on that one. IMO!

Thanks for the input. The whole "gas pedal stuck maybe" thing has us very uncomfortable, too. The dealer has records where the car was checked out and no issues were found. Apparently, it was from California where the Lemon Law is more liberal (dealer's words), so that's why it could have nothing wrong with it even though it was reacquired by Ford.

It is a pretty good deal. $13,000 for a 2008 with 20k miles and still has a year or 14k miles left on the warranty.

I noticed where there was a Service Bulletin on the 2006s? for the floor mats causing problems, so that's why I wasn't sure if this was a consistent issue.

Thanks again!
