Clanking noise and another question

I would look at the caliper pins and the caliper mounting bracket bolts.
The LCAs would be next on the list and finally the UCA should be
inspected for wear.

Well a family friend is a mechanic and I took it by him today and as soon as he heard it he told me what it was. My outside brake pad is moving inside the caliper, its sliding up and down when braking and thats whats making the noise. He told me how to fix it, glad it wasnt something more serious than that. Thanks!

It should not slide if the cross pins are in there.
You missing one of the 2 required cross pins that
are normally removed when changing pads and the
very same 2 pins holds the pad from sliding.
I dont understand his diagnosis.
Pics , please of this problem so future forum members can
benifit from a problem found and solved?

I'm going to take the wheel and caliper off today and check it out, Ill take some pics and let you know.
