Default Pre-Sale inspection. Any focus points

I'm looking at doing an out of state purchase of a 08 V6 convertible that's spent most of it's life(40,000) near the Gulf coast in Texas.

I'm going to have a Ford dealer do the pre-sale inspection and wanted to know if there were any particular things I should have them look for.

They'll cover all the major inspection points, but if you are aware of problematic areas, that this generation or the 08's in particular have, I'd like to make sure they put a focus on those.

Also if there's anything that tends to come up with vehicles that spend their life near the coast, I like to know about these as well.

Thanks for any advice you can provide. If all goes well, I may be driving my new Mustang by next weekend.

I bought a 2005 v6 convertible last June with 95,000 miles. Just have them check the thermostat housing for leakage.(plastic) Also maybe a tranny fluid/filter change would be good.

1. Water leak. Check the carpet and pad on the passenger side in particular, as well as pop open the smart junction box and have a look. Do a search on this one.

2. Paint. Check the leading edge of the hood after you pop it open for bubbling and peeling paint. Aluminum hood...it has had know issues. Search...

3. Front end clunk/thunk. Search this one as well.

Some of these were definately addressed to some degree by Ford post the 2005 launch so they may not affect an '08 but better safe than sorry. Hope she works out for you.

have them check for excessive wear on the convertible top near back window, last used mustang I looked at was a 2007 and the top had started to fray and come apart.

Check the cluster gauges and make sure they are working properly. The stepper motors are known to go out. Off and on, I have issues with my RPM and temperature gauges.

Excellent! Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll add them to my list of things to look for.

Plus, have them look for any signs of being a flood victim. Don't forget Katrina went through not too long ago.
