'13 strange noise at startup (engine)
im used to loud exhaust, lifter noise, etc. so this whole quiet thing trips me out. that being said... my wife noticed something.
our new 13 seems to make a noise at startup. at first thought it sounded like a belt, kinda. its more of a weird whistle. I dont care for it much. it goes away after a few min, but its brand new...so I gotta know if you all hear it too.
No CAI on it.
Im wondering if its some type of PCV warm up system, or similar that ive heard on cars before. If your car is cold, go start it and get out and listen please.
on another note, the steering bothers me when theres no stereo or road noise. I can hear it, almost like its wrapped in carpet rubbing something when im turning outta the driveway or parking it

very slowly and nudging the steering wheel left or right.
No input on the whistle noise. Might wanna try 3.7 Tech for that one.
Good luck.

I noticed the whistle on mine for the first time today and it really made me feel a little uneasy. And I've had mine for a few months so it could just be a belt getting broken in or something like that? I really have no idea.

I may be wrong but I may be correct as well.... I think these cars now have an EPS system (electronic power steering) look under the hood and if you don't see a power steering pump complete with reservoir I am correct in my assumption. Only saying so because my 3.7l 2011 F150 did not have an actual power steering pump. As far as the whistle I've never really heard a whistle on my mustang except on damp mornings sounded like a belt breaking in. Best of luck though hope you find out whats wrong
