Default Transmission fluid question

I have a 2008 mustang V6 4L with a manual transmission. From what I understand it takes mercon transmission fluid but they don't make it anymore so I use mercon V right? Also the power steering pump calls for mercon transmission fluid also. Do I use mercon V for the power steering fluid also? Thanks for your help.

Yes you would use mercon V in both the transmission and powersteering. The mercon V is great stuff and you can't go wrong with it; however, I just put royal purple synchromax manual transmission fluid in mine ('07 v6 mt) about 5,000mi ago and I am very happy with it. Yeah it's a little more pricy but you only need to buy 3 quarts to do the trans. Just something to think about.
