I think it depends on the dealer. If you get a cold air intake and something goes wrong with the engine, the dealer might blame it on the CAI. Just hang onto your stock parts when you need to bring it into the dealership, that way they won't hassel you.

You may want to consider taking your cap locks off...

ok.. now on the the subject... You don't need a backup computer (call an ECU). Ther hand held tuners like the Diablo Predator and SCT X-Cal2 make a copy of the stock program before they load the new program into the car's ECU. So when you take your car in for service you simply put the stock program back in... On the SCT X-Cal2 there is an option labeled "Return to stock"

Basically the dealership has to prove that your mod caused the problem... So if you have a CAI on they can't say they won't cover your power windows because you voided your warranty... Now, some dealers are cooler than others... I took my car in for some warranty work (TSB 05-14-4) and I left my CAI, my Nitrous kit was completely installed in plain sight, helmet on the back seat, and big white number on the windshield from the track... dealer fixed my problem... no questions..

I took my car in today for service because I have that popping noise under my hood when I turn the wheel... they got it up on the rack and asked me who put in the dual Magnaflows, I told them that I did... they proceeded to tell me that was where my noise was coming from! They even put on the work papers "customer complaining of noise under hood, is coming from after market exhaust". I told them that the popping noise was happening when I turned the wheel, and last time I checked, I don't have rear wheel steering! They went ahead and performed a "TSB 05-09-11 Upper st rut mounts". They are also ordering another gas tank for me, should be in next month. But overall, they saw my aftermarket exhaust and tried to tell me that was where all my noises were coming from! [:@]

well, this is my first place to go for waranty work on my car. I just picked this place because it was the closest. I'll probably go somewhere else next time.

Yea some dealerships can be real A holes, fortunately the dealership in Slidell is cool as hell, the ones in New Orleans, good luck, and this is before the storm.

I wouldn't bother changing the tuner settings back to stock. From what I've heard (from someone whos worked at a ford shop) they can still tell if your car has been tuned. Apparently the computer keeps a log, and I don't think reflashing the stock settings will change that. Other then that, I would just e-mail or call the dealer who sold you the car, and ask what kind've bolt-on mods you can get without voiding your warranty. I did, and was told CAI and exhaust were fine. He said he'd have to check on u/d pulleys, t-lock, and gears (heh, figured I'd try).
