I've bitched so much at the dealership since I've owned the car, some 6 months, they've been paying for Sirius Satelite radio for me, NOW we've exhausted ALL radios on their lot so they're going to be installing a shaker equivalent (made by Visteon rather than Delphi)

By all accounts, it's out of a 2006 explorer and installs without any issues... I'll keep y'all informed how it goes

IT WON'T PROGRAM THE VISTEON... NO GO THIS ROUTE

They're talking now aout refunding $700 (the cost of the skipper)
THEN I can get a navigation system [8D]

Good luck. I've tried two new Skipper 1000's, and they all skip. I was just kinda waiting around for them to fix it before I tried again.

How does this other unit compare?

Delphi having filed "bankruptcy" won't get around to fixing the system

The new one by Visteon (by all accounts) is equivalent to the one by Delphi, the only difference would be the faceplace (doesn't say "shaker") anywhere....

Plays MP3's, 6 disc in dash changer, talks to the databus in the car etc etc

Will have to wait and see!

Hi there....saw your post. We just got our 2006 V6 Mustang and it had the Shaker1000 system in it. So far, I don't think we've had problems but now I'm worried at seeing your post.

Can you tell us specifically what problems you've had? CD skipping? Radio not working? Should we be worried?

I think EVERYONE is gonna have problems of some sort with the "shaker" (500 or 1000 makes no odds)

The CD in mine skips (and it's repeatable within 10 minutes of starting a CD) and because I drive 60 minutes each way to work and back... I bitched heavily hence they're paying for Sirius for me!! Luckily, I have the phatbox installed otherwise I'd go nuts having to listen to regular radio! it just means I can't (and won't) pickup a cd when out on a road-trip

The sevice guy has the adio, now we're waiting for an antenna conersion something or other (he said something about a chrysler -> ford) but nothing I cold just go to bestbuy to pickup unfortunately (or I would have)

you mean with just the dask piece or with the entire system (speakers and amp)

I believe it's just the head unit that's no good

I've not had any prolems with the amp!
