Default 15000 service from Ford - fuel filter question

Just had "the works" service. The tech said that I need a new air filter and he also recommended a new fuel filter.

I asked how much for the fuel filter - about $70. Air filter was $25

I said "No" to both. I found a Motorcraft fuel filter for $10.50. What was this guy thinking?

Air filter and fuel filters are easy do-it-yourself jobs... If you know what you are doing...

Those prices are crazy...

The guy was thinking: "Well if this guy is too dumb to install an air/fuel filter himself, I might as well charge him out the A$$, he'll never know"

I haven't done the fuel filter change yet. Am I going to need one of those spring lock removal tools?

Actually...my air filter was really bad. Since a lot of places did not have them in stock (Napa's around my area) I took my dirty air filter out and slammed it on the ground a few times and put it back in. Tons of crap poured out. When I did replace my filter (STP- yeah...I'm a cheap ***) I did notice quite a difference in Pepiness.
